FIGHT IDENTITY THEIVES & FRAUDS
There is a monumental plague that is sweeping the nation and it is not biological at all.  This plague assaults a citizen's very identity.   The cancer (frauds and terrorists) that commits this crime against humanity is not in remission, in fact it is terminal.

My point in bringing this to attention is not merely to scare, you already know this.  But maybe you haven't been taking the news headlines seriously or personally enough.  This epidemic has reached the point where most of us know (at least indirectly) one victim of identity theft or fraud.  How close to home does this cancer need to come for you to open your eyes and take precautions for yourself and your family?  So let's just get right to the point:

COMMON TRAPS
Email
“Problem with your account”
Money schemes
Your own carlessness (ie accidentally hitting “reply all”)
Credit

PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE RIGHT NOW
Dispose Your Documents and Digital Information Properly
Get a cross-cut paper shredder
Destroy old computer drives and don't leave cd-roms lying around
Come Up With a Crisis Management Plan If Sensitive Data Is Lost Or Stolen
The Passport Program/U.S. Federal Trade Commission's ID theft Web site (www.consumer.gov/idtheft)
Identity Theft Insurance

IF YOU ARE A VICTIM
The Passport Program (used in several counties) - this great program provides victims a way to prove to their creditors, banks, credit bureaus and other companies and law enforcement that their identity has been stolen.  It also helps the victims begin the process of identifying the crimes committed against them, rebuild their credit, etc.
If the Passport Program is not available where you live, there is a U.S. Federal Trade Commission web site dedicated to identity theft with resources, information and steps to take if you become a victim.
